1. Membership in the Maine Woods Coalition (MWC) shall be open to any individual, business or organization having a significant personal interest in issues affecting the recreational, commercial or industrial use of forest lands in northern Maine, who agrees with the purposes of the MWC, and who is willing to work to achieve those purposes. Individuals seeking membership must be citizens of the United States. Businesses and organizations seeking membership must be incorporated in the U.S. Unincorporated partnerships or proprietorships seeking membership must be owned by citizens of the U.S.

2. Full Membership Classes: There are four classes of full members of the Maine Woods Coalition: individual, business, organizational, and governmental. These four classes of members will have full voting rights.

(a) Individual Members: All individual members must own property, or must permanently reside, in Somerset, Piscataquis, Penobscot, or Aroostook Counties, Maine.

(b) Business Members: All business members must have a significant business presence in any of the four counties listed in 2(a) above. For this purpose, a “significant business presence” shall consist of ownership of property, location of the business's principal place of business, or employment of five or more full time equivalent employees within the four counties stated.

(c) Organizational Members: All organizational members must meet the qualifications for business membership in 2(b) above, or must have an organizational membership of whom at least fifty percent (50%) are individual year round residents within the four counties listed in 2(a) above.

(d) Governmental Members: Individuals serving as area legislative representatives, or appointed by municipalities located within any of the four counties stated in 2(a) above, may become members whether or not that individual is otherwise qualified for membership under this section.
